The Sand Dish is a ceramic butter dish, made entirely by hand from a coarse, semi textured clay for a robust, grounded feel. A natural leather cord is attached to the lid, giving it a simple, easy way to lift and set aside.

Finished in a sand toned glaze with small black copper oxide details, this ceramic butter dish takes on burnt cream tones that shift subtly from piece to piece. The rustic texture underneath and the smooth glaze on top sit in quiet contrast, a small study in materials on a single object.

Sized to keep butter, ghee or a soft spread within easy reach on the counter, it is especially well suited to preparing ghee or any clarified butter: pour it in while still liquid and let it set and solidify directly inside the dish, ready to use once it has cooled. It brings a bit of warmth to a small daily task, and looks the part between uses too.

Because it includes a natural leather detail on the lid, this piece should be hand washed only, and kept out of the dishwasher and microwave.
